Tan-tastic!

I have tried out many fake tans over the years – some have been successful, some definitely not so much.  However, when you find that fake tan doesn’t look like you bought it on Dale Winton’s recommendation and is also really easy to apply, you really do feel a sense of achievement.  I felt this after purchasing the Fake Bake Mousse Instant Self-Tan and have been recommending it to friends ever since.

Fake Bake Mousse Instant Self-Tan is a fast drying, easy to apply super-light mousse suitable for all skin types and is ideal for tan maintenance or to create a more subtle tan.  I’ve been wearing it for the past month now and instead of the usual “I see you’ve faked tanned” comments, people have been saying “you’ve caught the sun!”

I love how this product gives a much more natural look than other fake tans give and the mousse is actually really easy to apply.  Because the mouse is a ‘tan’ colour, you can see exactly where you are applying it and if you have missed any parts.

I followed these tips from Nicky Hambleton-Jones, Beauty Expert of http://www.lookandfeelyounger.tv/:

  • Always ensure you remove rough, flaky dry skin by exfoliating thoroughly before applying fake tan to prevent a patchy, uneven finish.
  • Be sure to focus on particularly dry areas such as knees and elbows and hydrate with a light body milk or lotion.  Anything too rich like a body butter will take longer to absorb into the skin and may cause your fake tan to look streaky.
  • Invest in a self-tanning mitt to avoid leaving tell-tale signs all over your palms and ensure a super-smooth, streak-free application.  Simply drop a fifty pence-sized amount of fake tan onto the mitt and gently smooth directly onto your skin in long, smooth upward motions.  Wait for the lotion to settle and dry for a few minutes before dressing.
  • Super pale hands and a bronzed body can also reveal your tanning truths, but we all know how tricky it can be to tan your hands without leaving patchy areas between your fingers and cuticles.  A great trick is to apply two pea-sized amounts onto the back of your hands and gently massage all over as if you are applying hand cream.  Allow the tan to absorb into your skin for two minutes then wash off for naturally golden and evenly tanned hands.
I had always struggled to tan my hands but by following Nicky's tip and using two pea-sized amounts on the back of my hands it really helped.

Happy tanning!
