Spring Nails From Chanel

To me nail varnish trends start and end with Chanel, regardless to any other external influences, Chanel is nail colour God.

Chanel April, May and June

So this season the three must have colours are APRIL, MAY and JUNE, rather easy to remember, perhaps a little unimaginative, but I don’t care! They are lush, juicy colours with pastel pink tones, perfect for perking up dull skin and adding a flash of colour to a drab wardrobe. Working well with blacks, browns, greys and this seasons pastel shades how can you go wrong? A sharp cost at £17.50 so if you can’t justify spending that much on a nail varnish, colour match with brands such as Mavala, Essie and Revlon for a more affordable yet quality alternative.

P.S - Boys, this makes an AMAZING last minute Valentine's Day present!!!

Burlesque The Movie

When we heard Christina Augiliara and Cher were making a film about singing and dancing we literally could not wait for it to come out. When Burlesque hit the big screen, we unfortunately were unable to get the time to go and see the film. K being the amazing person she is, brought me the DVD for my birthday. We finally got round to watching the film a few weeks ago. The story lines were incredibly predictable but rather cheesy but we did not care! We had the costumes, make-up, fashion, songs and dancing to keep us occupied.

Cher and Christina were amazing to say the least! I do not care if Christina has put on a few pounds (you cannot see it in the film) and we are not very bothered about Cher’s pillow face (she still looks 21! Nevertheless, good on her!)

Christina was given an incredible range of different looks during the film, from small town American girl, to sexy songstress, to vampy torch song singer. Every look she wore suited her, meaning you can wear them too! To be honest – her ‘small town American girl’ look was a bit ‘wiggy’ in terms of her hair, but still her au natural make up was truly lovely!

Below is a selection of the key looks achieved by Christina in the film...

Dressing up is fun, and always-on trend. Take red lipstick for example – so many fabulous brands are bringing out shades of red to suite every skin tone, Kate Moss for Rimmel, Tom Ford, Kate Winslet, YSL, Dior and Chanel – there are so many, so go and get one!

False eyelashes to are a hug winner in my eyes (sorry could not resist the pun!) with Christmas just around the corner and New Year parties already being planned – when better to step on stage and shine!

BTW I couldn’t do a post on Burlesque without including the ‘love interest’ *SWOOOOON*

And the 'footwear love interest'...

Chanel's Spring Summer 2012

Karl Lagerfeld’s stunning spring summer 2012 collection for Chanel was themed around an underwater sea world with gossamer-light frocks in a powdery palette of cream, blush, peach sherbet and white parading the runways, with every look from dresses to boxy jackets studded with pearl buttons, as were the ear-lobes and spines of the models gliding down the catwalk.

Creative Director of Chanel make-up Peter Philips said on his inspiration for the show; "The focus was on luminosity, purity and a touch of humour. I did pale, glowy skin with a pink/coral blush, a wet shiny eyelid finished with black eyeliner, slightly glossy lips and randomly placed pearl piercings. Some girls had a pearl spine."

Unveiling the colour for their highly anticipated spring summer 2012 nail lacquer, Peter says: "I created a white, pearl nail polish exclusively for the show and for the more "colourful" passages I used three nail polish shades called April, May and June. All three shades come out next spring."

And sharing his top beauty tips for the season ahead, Peter advises: "This is a very accessible, wearable look that is easy to apply and flattering for most women. The balance between shine and matte, topped with a hint of colour, is a perfect way to float into spring 2012."

A while ago, I discovered some gorgeous nail colours from My Face Cosmetics and they have launched some more colours including the lil’bling Diamonds and Pearls shade - which if you can’t wait until next Spring for Chanel’s – I think would be perfect for creating this look!
