Lashings of Lashes

Everyone would like eyelashes that look long, full, fluttery but not fake. Over the years I’m sure you or someone you know has endeavored with false strip lashes to achieve the Bambi eye look, and we all know it’s not easy to get the lashes in the right place, not to mention keep them on your eyelids for more than a few hours.

This is where The Powder Lounge comes in. Located on the 2nd lower ground floor of Topshop, Oxford Circus, London, these lash experts are here to help you get ‘the lash look’ with easy and convenience. The Powder Lounge offers a plethora of services including strip lash application for FREE when you purchase one of their many strip lashes. They also offer semi permanent lash treatments one of which I tried called Holiday Lash.

Holiday Lash is a semi permanent lash extension treatment that is designed to last for about 2 weeks. The individual flare lashes are for me the best time saver in the morning! You don’t need to wear mascara when you have these and that also saves time at night when getting ready for bed. The real beauty of these is when you are actually away; they are designed to allow you to wear them while swimming, or lying on the beach.

Below is a picture of my eyelashes before having Holiday Lash applied (please note my lashes are curled in this image, so they do actually look longer than they actually are!)

Before Holiday Lash

Unfortunately, I’m not actually going on holiday but have been wearing these Holiday Lashes for a week now and they really are fantastic! I’ve not had to scrub my eye make up off every evening or spend ages applying mascara, eyeliner and what not in the mornings. In addition, they look so beautiful! I feel much more confident with these lashes, I feel I can pop to the shops without a full face on just because my eyes look brilliant without any effort.

Below are images of Holiday Lash after application - such a difference!

After - Eyes closed

After - Eyes open

For those of you who wear contact lenses or have sensitive eyes, Holiday Lash will NOT cause you any problems. Designed for use with hypoallergenic adhesive these ultra soft lashes are the most natural way to have the lashes you’ve always dreamed of.

Beautiful long lashes at your fingertips!

Long, thick, luscious eyelashes are every girl’s dream – and although false eyelashes are a great solution, it’s not always ideal to have to apply them everyday.  Firstly, it can damage your eyelashes, and secondly, if you’re anything like me, you just don’t have time in the morning.

Well you can imagine my delight when I discovered an alternative to false eyelashes; Jica Lash Extension Treatment.

Jica Lash Extension is made up of natural lash fibres which add length, thickness and beauty to your lashes. This exclusive treatment gives the illusion of long, strong voluminous lashes instantly.  You only need to use a small amount so it should last you quite a while.

Application could not be easier;

  • Apply mascara to lashes.
  • Whilst the mascara is still wet, apply lash fibres with a rolling motion of the brush.
  • Apply a second coat of mascara to complete
And just to ensure my lashes are perfect, I always curl my lashes before applying the first layer of mascara.

So have fabulous eyelashes everyday of the week!

The strip lash in a flash!

With the party season upon us, I wanted to share with you a new find of mine…the fabulous eyelash range, Blink+Go.

With kitcsh packaging and luscious lashes inside they are the perfect range that every girl should have on their dressing table to help them achieve the ultimate party look. With ranges called Flirt, Tease, Temptress and Heartbreaker it is no wonder that Blink+Go can transform us in seconds from girl next door to devastatingly sexy siren.

As it’s Christmas, I went for the ‘Tease’ range with little diamantes along the edge to add some sparkle.  Blink+Go says;

Seductive, intensive and ruthless.  Transform your eyes into gorgeous, smouldering man-magnets (they wont stand a chance!)…wear at your own risk!

So be warned Beauty School Tryouts!!

Blink+Go lashes are hardwearing and durable it is no surprise that they are a favourite with celebrities and makeup artists alike.  They also offer unique styles including auburn lashes for the fairer girls out there to gorgeous embellished designs for the festive and party season.

So if you want to flutter and flirt with your eyelashes under the mistletoe this Christmas, make sure you pick up a pair of Blink+Go lashes!

Burlesque The Movie

When we heard Christina Augiliara and Cher were making a film about singing and dancing we literally could not wait for it to come out. When Burlesque hit the big screen, we unfortunately were unable to get the time to go and see the film. K being the amazing person she is, brought me the DVD for my birthday. We finally got round to watching the film a few weeks ago. The story lines were incredibly predictable but rather cheesy but we did not care! We had the costumes, make-up, fashion, songs and dancing to keep us occupied.

Cher and Christina were amazing to say the least! I do not care if Christina has put on a few pounds (you cannot see it in the film) and we are not very bothered about Cher’s pillow face (she still looks 21! Nevertheless, good on her!)

Christina was given an incredible range of different looks during the film, from small town American girl, to sexy songstress, to vampy torch song singer. Every look she wore suited her, meaning you can wear them too! To be honest – her ‘small town American girl’ look was a bit ‘wiggy’ in terms of her hair, but still her au natural make up was truly lovely!

Below is a selection of the key looks achieved by Christina in the film...

Dressing up is fun, and always-on trend. Take red lipstick for example – so many fabulous brands are bringing out shades of red to suite every skin tone, Kate Moss for Rimmel, Tom Ford, Kate Winslet, YSL, Dior and Chanel – there are so many, so go and get one!

False eyelashes to are a hug winner in my eyes (sorry could not resist the pun!) with Christmas just around the corner and New Year parties already being planned – when better to step on stage and shine!

BTW I couldn’t do a post on Burlesque without including the ‘love interest’ *SWOOOOON*

And the 'footwear love interest'...

How to apply False Eyelashes

Like many, I dream of having gorgeous, thick and long eyelashes and wish I was blessed like Elizabeth to be born with two layers of eyelashes.  Sadly, unlike Elizabeth Taylor, my eyelashes weren’t destined to be on the big screen.  Instead, I have to reply on various mascaras, eyelash curlers and for special occasions, false eyelashes.

There is definitely an art to applying false eyelashes and so we spoke to Lash Expert and founder of A H Francis, Alison Francis to see if she could offer us any advice.

“Like most things, applying false eyelashes perfectly takes some practice – the more you do it, the easier and quicker it becomes.  To ensure the false lash holds on to the natural curve of your eyelid, carefully wrap the eyelash strip around your finger for a minute or so to create a slightly arched shape.  Precisely apply eyelash adhesive to the base of the strip using the back end of your tweezers, as can cotton buds can leave traces of wool that irritate the eye and squirting directly from the tube can be very messy.  Remember to only apply a thin layer of adhesive to ensure the lash strip does not slide around once placed on your natural lash line.  Hold one end of the strip lash with your fingertips and the other with tweezers, then carefully place directly onto the eyelid, as close to the lash line as possible.  For extra comfort, use eyelash curlers to bind your natural lashes to the false lashes 1-2 minutes after the adhesive has dried.”

My favourite false eyelashes at the moment are the Kimberley ones in the Girls Aloud range as they aren’t too heavy.

So come on girls, flutter those eyelashes!
